Vegas - You wee Beauty!!

So woke up this morning, hmmmm what should I do today? Maybe a bit of shopping, check out the inside of some more casino’s and then go and watch a few of the free shows in the evening.  I went down and grabbed some breakfast and on the way back to my room thought I would drop $20 into one of the slots, Bazzingi! $700 winnings – change of plans – where is a Helicopter tour when I need one?  It was actually classic, as I thought I had won $70 and thought that was a good score so I should cash out, then the ticket printed out and said $700, I was shocked and bloody stoked!!  So I got changed and went for a wander to the Luxor as I wanted to check that out anyway.  Once there I found a place that books helicopter tours and booked one for 4pm this afternoon, flying over the Hoover Dam and into the Grand Canyon for champagne and a picnic before flying back to Vegas, a round trip of about 3 hours.   I then walked further up the strip and checked out Caesars Palace.  All the casinos are so out of it – they are like a vortex of intensity, and once you’re in them it’s very difficult to find your way out, there are so many amazing things to see.   The woman here are scandalously hot, however, there are enough horrible red neck, wall mart ladies to balance it out – you just have to keep your sunnies on and your wits about you.   Anyways I found a swatch store in Caesars and brought myself a blinging new watch with part of my winnings, rapt.  I then made my way back to Hooters as I was getting picked up at 2.45pm and it was almost 1pm.  At the correct time a people mover pulled up outside and drove me and a bunch of other tourists out to a private airport on the outskirts of town.  Once there we paid our money and got given details and a safety brief and then we were off into the sky’s.  It was AMAZING! I am so glad I treated myself to it, as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I will never forget it.  Seeing the Hoover  Dam was incredible and then we flew up and into the Grand Canyon, before setting down at an awesome little picnic area that the Helicopter outfit has set up.

(They rent the land off the native Indians) We then flew up and out of there and over to another stop so that they could refuel before flying down the Black Canyon (Colorado River)  on the way back to the airport.  A round trip of about three hours.  I have probably taken about 300 photos.   It was very, very cool.   They company then drove us all back into town.  Once back at the Hotel I changed my shirt and headed straight back out to the strip for my last evening of eyeball popping scenarios.   I went and saw the Volcano at the Mirage, which is dope and then went to see the Pirates vs Sirens show at Treasure Island.  Now that is an experience – it is amazing, so well done and must not be missed if you are ever visiting Las Vegas.  I totally enjoyed it.  There were large crowds there so I decided to sit in the “Sirens Bar” and have a nice big comfy seat and a beer and a makers while I watched the performance – great decision.   Following that I went over to check out the gondolas at the Venetian.  I thought about having a ride on one of them – but the only other gondola experience I have had was with Jamie Bowen in Christchurch and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it without him.  J I then hopped on a bus and went over to Freemont St, which is the original site that Vegas began on so it is a mix of old school Vegas and lights and new fandangled displays.  It was worth going over to see, but it took for ever to get there as the traffic was putz.   Anyway I’m back home now and it’s 12.32pm, I’m shattered, I have been go, go, go all day, when you are travelling alone you can move from place to place pretty quickly and I am one hell of a power walker so I covered some serious ground, but it was a fantastic day and much better than I had planned pre breakfast.  Tomorrow I fly to LA for the last leg of my trip.  So thanks Vegas for shelling out for me and making my experience incredible – and now when anyone asks me about my watch, I will have a great story to tell.  I have so many photos to show on my return that I will probably bore you all to death.   Love to you all, your friend Miz x x
